FAQ

Frequently asked questions

These answers cover the most common player questions about puzzles, controls, saves, and daily play.

Can I continue a Sudoku game later?

Yes. Today's SUDOKU saves your current board, timer, notes, settings, and progress in local storage. If you refresh the page or come back later on the same device, the puzzle can continue where you left off.

Are there daily Sudoku puzzles?

Yes. Every day has a deterministic daily Sudoku in easy, medium, hard, and expert. That means each daily route is stable, shareable, and replayable from the archive.

Does Today's SUDOKU work well on mobile?

It does. The board, number pad, controls, and spacing are designed to stay fast and touch-friendly on smaller screens without sacrificing keyboard-friendly desktop play.

How are puzzle difficulties chosen?

Difficulty comes from the puzzle generator targets, clue count, and the resulting solving pressure on the board. Easy boards are more generous, while hard and expert boards leave fewer givens and ask for better candidate management. Every generated puzzle is also checked for a unique solution.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Today's SUDOKU is intentionally account-free. Progress, streaks, monthly challenge data, Hall of Fame entries, and personal stats are stored locally in your browser so you can start instantly.

What does notes mode do?

Notes mode turns number input into pencil marks instead of final answers. It lets you mark possible candidates in a cell, which becomes especially useful on medium, hard, and expert puzzles where elimination matters more than speed.

What is the difference between Hint, Check, and Reveal mistakes?

Hint places one correct value for you. Check scans the full board and jumps to the first detected issue if something is wrong. Reveal mistakes is a visual cleanup tool that highlights wrong entries currently on the board without changing any values for you.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Use arrow keys to move between cells, number keys to place values, backspace or delete to clear a cell, and the notes toggle when you want to switch into pencil marks mode.

How does the monthly challenge work?

The monthly challenge tracks how many Sudokus you complete during the current month. The target is 30 finished boards, and any completed puzzle counts toward it, including random boards and daily puzzles.

What happens after I finish a board?

After completion, you can share your result, save a retro-style alias to the local Hall of Fame, review your challenge progress, and start another puzzle right away.
